Weekly rewind #6
If a man knows not which port he sails, no wind is favorable
This week was about rearranging my schedule to be present for my loved ones.

π¨ I love coloring mandalas, and for Christmas I gave myself two books to color: one about the ocean and the other about landscapes. I usually color mandalas with the kids; we have about four books that we color at night before going to bed or on Sunday mornings when screens are not allowed at all. They wanted to color with me, but these two books are mine, for myself, and to be used during my alone time (which is rare and in fact, I was coloring while they were coloring their own books). Happy to have finished my first drawing.

π» I am trying to reduce my computer time, which is difficult at the beginning of the month. I spend my whole day working on a computer, and after I come back home, I use it to do family stuff, but also to read blogs, check Mastodon, and study things I like. I am always busy using my computer, whether because of my job or my personal life. After Wanda told me that I was not playing with them as much as I used to, Iβve decided to stop using the computer after work unless it is absolutely necessary (such as paying bills). We got to talk and cook together, and hopefully I will reduce my time even more, because on Saturday -and right now while I am writing this- I am using my computer more than I should...
πΊ Last week, I decided to join Sober curious movement. It lasted exactly 8 days π but...in my defense, I was reading and thinking about the future while drinking a beer. Did I need a beer? Certainly not. But it was a relaxing and nice moment. Jazz, books and my own thoughts. I needed some time alone. After all, the movement statement says and I quote:
Sober curious is a cultural movement and lifestyle of practicing none or limited alcohol consumption.
Watching
πΊ Video historia by Brazilian journalist Elcio Braga. We watched his trip to the Brazilian Antartica's base and the smallest island under the administration of the Brazilian government. We also watched a video about how one of the Brazilian oil platforms works and how workers live there. Very interesting.
πΊ Alma, a Spanish supernatural thriller produced by Netflix ("The girl in the mirror" in the English version). Nice, sometimes scary but not scary enough to jump off your couch. And it is basically a bunch of teenagers with no parents (apparently) trying to solve a mystery.
Reading/Listening
π I finished "O apocalipse das capivaras" (The capybara's apocalipsis) by Wesley MercΓͺs. It's a book for children and pre-teens but it is very funny and it has a lot of jokes that we, adults, can understand. 10/10 on my list of books.
π I'm still trying to finish "La estafa de la feminidad" (The femininity scam) by Lala Pasquinelli but I got to a point where my mind argues with the author so much that I forget what I was reading about. I am still deciding if that is good or not.
Listening
π§ The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Great trilogy.
π§ Spores- Series 2 by the Welsh BBC. I have one episode left. The first season was very good. The second season is even better.
Fitness log
πββοΈ I jogged three times this week, reaching 4.5 km in 30 minutes. I am quite happy and my toe is almost healed (or at least not hurting...).
π½οΈ I am very frustrated with my diet. I noticed that my nutritionist did not write down portion sizes, so I am kind of lost with my meals. My problem is not what I eat; I actually eat very healthy food. My problem is portions and snacks. I love almonds, dried fruits, and cheese (which I usually donβt eat because Wanda and Pietro are allergic to milk protein, so when I do eat it, I definitely eat more than I should). So I need a clearer meal plan. I defined one myself for next week based on what she sent me and what is appropriate for a woman of my age, height, and lifestyle. Let's see how it goes.
