Weekly rewind #5

In these bodies we will live, in these bodies we will die. And where you invest your love, you invest your life.

This week, I had to rethink how I spend my time...

🍺 This weekend, I've decided to join the Sober curious movement. Since it is a little late for Dry January, this gives me the freedom to explore a life without alcohol or at least, limit it. I started reading about this after listening to an episode of the "Simple families" podcast, where the host talks about her year without alcohol. Let's see how this goes. The movement was popularized by Ruby Warrington who said:

[Being sober curious] means, literally, to choose to question, or get curious about, every impulse, invitation, and expectation to drink, versus mindlessly going along with the dominant drinking culture.

👩🏽‍💼 This week I had to catch up on with everything at work. I'm not sure that I did that but at least I was able to meet my commitments in a professional way. What I love about education is that you are always learning. And I really love learning.

🎒 Kids started school and during the parents' meeting, I found out they no longer have robotic classes. But the teacher spent about 30 minutes talking about financial education. They are in primary school and though I believe they need to learn how to deal with money, what we really need to teach them is how not to fall into the void of consumerism. You won't be in debt if you don't spend money you don't have on things you don't need. "Oh, what about investments?". Well, that isn't event part of the curriculum, so why do we pretend that’s what this is about?? Teach them not to fall for the propaganda of "more is better". Teach them not to believe influencers and their fake fabulous lives. Teach them to produce, to exchange, to consume what is necessary, to redistribute, to teach and to learn. To be not parasites who trade and buy and sell and prey on working people. Teach them to be useful for themselves, their families, their friends and as a byproduct, you will see them being useful for the society as a whole. And for Thor's sake, don't take robotics from them!!!

🚸 Also, teach them to protect their time. Wanda and I went grocery shopping together for the first time, just the two of us. Pietro stayed with his father and we, girls, finally had some one-on-one time. That almost never happens. I never have one-on-one time with my twins. It is super difficult to be alone with one of them. She told me she felt that last year I didn’t spend much time with her (or with Pietro). That I didn’t play with them much, and that I was always working or doing something else on the computer. She was right. I told her this year I only have two goals:

1- to be healthier.

2- to spend more time with the family.

I once read that if you want your kids to visit you when you you’re old, if you want them to share their lives with you in 20 years, you need to spend time with them now. Because in 20 years, the only people who will remember that you worked late are your kids. And it's not going to be a pleasant memory.

🎲 Another week, another RPG game! It is our fourth adventure out of 52 and enjoying very much finding the time to play together. We were chased inside by heavy rain, but we kept playing while watching the rain fall and listening to the thunder.

Watching

📺 I am (re)watching Grimm and I am loving it.

Reading/Listening

📚 I'm reading a book that a friend borrowed me when I went to Argentina. It is called "La estafa de la feminidad" (The femininity scam) by Lala Pasquinelli and it basically talks about how women are driven to believe certain things such as being beautiful (or taking care of your aesthetics) is necessary to be chosen in this world, how many ideas are violently put in your head (you will not get married with that attitude) and things like that. As a woman, I am a feminist. I mean, I believe in equal rights, I believe that women's fight is not even close to be over and March 8th is an important date in my life. However, this book made me talk to myself many times in disagreement because sometimes I think some women go too far. But that is good. It's making me think a lot about how I am raising Wanda. Even though I am not agree with some statements.

🎧 The Cranberries, No need to argue. Beautiful album.

🎧 Mothercover by the Welsh BBC. I finished it on Tuesday. As most of the stories presented in Channel 4, excellent.

Fitness log

🏃‍♀️ I've jogged three times this week, every time getting over 3 km in 30 minutes.

💪 I did some strength exercises but I am not not even close to what I want as an exercise routine.

See you next week!
